Parenting for Success - FCSV

Supporting life.

The Parenting for Success – Foster Care Supportive Visitation (FCSV) program provides an intensive, individualized, parent-child visit approach that addresses the needs of the child, birth parent, and family. Parent and child visits are supported by a visiting coach trained in the Bavolek Nurturing Parenting Program. The program is a family-centered initiative designed to build nurturing parenting skills. Parenting support is provided in the family home before the child visit, during the visit, and after to ensure that the skill is learned and understood by the birth parent.

This State of Michigan funded service is available throughout the Central and Western Upper Peninsula to all families with an open DHS Foster Care case with a current goal of reunification and whose child/ren have been in out-of-home placement for six months or less. Services are available to the family for twelve weeks with possible extension up to six months. Referrals are accepted from both DHS and private agencies on a first come, first served basis. Visiting coaches are located in four sites in the U.P., are well-acquainted with their counties, and are willing and able to work with all child placing agencies.
